On marriage
Mangal dosha, without the panic
Astro Infini · 2026-02-11
Mangal dosha is the observation that Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th from the ascendant, the Moon, or Venus. That is all it is. It is not a stain, and it is not a prediction that a marriage will fail.
The trouble starts when a single placement is pulled out of a chart and handed to a family as a verdict. Mars also describes heat, work, surgery, courage, and the way a person meets conflict. A marriage question still needs the 7th lord, the navamsha of the 7th when the time is reliable, Venus, and the dasha the couple will actually live through. A dosha that is cancelled — Mars in its own sign or exaltation, Jupiter in a kendra, Jupiter joining or aspecting Mars — is not the same statement as an uncancelled one.
There is a further, quieter rule. When both people carry an active Manglik pattern, the traditional reading is that the patterns meet, rather than one person being asked to carry the pattern alone.
If a family has been told to search only for a Manglik match, ask for the chart, not the label. A sitting is better spent on the two horoscopes than on a word that has been asked to do too much.
